Students of the Month for September were recognized for the character trait of Responsibility . Responsibility means having a job or task to do and following through with it, while also understanding how your actions affect yourself and others. It involves being dependable and accountable for your behavior, such as cleaning up after yourself or doing homework.

Our very own Ripley Volunteer Fire Department spent part of their day educating students at RES on fire safety. They were wonderful guests and our students enjoyed their visit!

Tomorrow, Jackson County Schools will join districts across the state in celebrating West Virginia School Service Personnel Day. This annual observance, recognized by the Governor's proclamation, honors the essential contributions of all service personnel staff who work tirelessly to support students and maintain the day-to-day operations of schools.
West Virginia School Service Personnel Day is an opportunity to recognize the individuals who are instrumental to the success of our students and the smooth functioning of our schools. These dedicated professionals include bus drivers, cooks, custodians, maintenance workers, aides, secretaries, and more.
Our school service personnel are a critical component of our school system. They ensure our students have a safe, clean, and welcoming environment to learn in, and they provide the support that allows our teachers to focus on instruction. Their hard work and dedication often go unnoticed, but they're absolutely vital to everything we do.
Jackson County Schools encourages all students, parents, and community members to take a moment to thank these staff members for their unwavering commitment. Whether it's a simple thank you note, a kind word, or a gesture of appreciation, every effort helps show our gratitude for their critical role in our educational community.

You can find the most recent Local School Improvement Council (LSIC) agenda at the link below. You can also find information about what the LSIC does as well.

Ripley Elementary School values your input regarding our Home/School Compact. The Home/School Compact outlines the shared responsibilities of Ripley Elementary School, its students, and their families in promoting student academic success. It emphasizes the importance of partnership and communication between home and school to support students in meeting the state's academic standards.
You can view the compact by following the ink below. Please email Leslie Haynes at lhaynes@boe.jack.k12.wv.us or call the school at 304-372-7345 with any questions, concerns, or input.
Thank you.

Good evening - I hope everyone had a great first day of school and is ready to make the second day even better. Parents, just a reminder that if your child rides a bus, you can track the location of the bus on the Zonar App. The App is located on our website under registrations. https://tinyurl.com/yrzg8c4s
Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

Good evening, this is Will Hosaflook, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools. I'm excited to welcome you on Tuesday, August 19th, to a new school year filled with promise and anticipation.
It's important to take a moment to celebrate our recent accomplishments. Jackson County Schools continue to be a leader in academics across the state. Last year, our fifth-grade students—now sixth graders—ranked number one in West Virginia for English and Math on the General Summative Assessment. Fairplain Elementary is now a top 10 elementary school in the state, and seven of our eleven schools achieved their highest academic marks ever in English or Math. This is a tremendous achievement and a testament to the hard work of our students, staff, and community.
We are truly blessed to have such dedicated employees, supportive communities, and remarkable students. I firmly believe in the power of public education to provide hope and more opportunities for our students than any other form of schooling. We accept the high standards we're held to every day, knowing that our commitment to accountability sets us apart from other options. Thank you, parents, school employees, and community members, for making Jackson County a great place to learn and grow.
This year, your child's opening day packet will include a letter explaining new legislative laws as well as hard-copy forms you need to return to school. Digital forms are available on our website. As always, I appreciate your patience on the first day of school as we work to make everything run smoothly. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement as we begin another exciting year.
Have a wonderful evening.
