Hello, Ripley Elementary School community! I am thrilled and honored to introduce myself as your new principal, Matt Hicks. It is with great enthusiasm that I join this incredible school and embark on a journey of shaping bright futures together.
My passion for education has been a guiding force throughout my career. Before stepping into the role of principal, I spent 7 fulfilling years as a special education teacher. Those years were a profound learning experience, as I discovered the power of providing personalized support and creating an inclusive environment where every student could learn.
Following my teaching journey, I had the privilege of serving the West Virginia Department of Education for another 7 years. In that capacity, I actively participated in shaping educational policies and initiatives aimed to uplift schools and students across our great state. My goal has always been to advocate for educational equity and innovation, ensuring all students have access to a high-quality education.
As your principal, I am committed to fostering a school community where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. I believe education goes beyond academics; it is about cultivating a sense of belonging and creating an environment for students to explore their passions and and talents.
