Ripley Elementary Color FUN RUN/WALK FAQs Friday, April 28 at 6:30pm
What is a Color FUN run/walk? During a color run or walk, participants are doused in a different colored powder at several stations throughout the course. Participants are encouraged to wear white or light clothing for best color results. At a “fun” run/walk, the race is not officially timed. You are able to complete the course at your own pace. There are water and obstacle stations along the race route that you can participate in or bypass.
What are the funds going towards? Multiple playground improvements at Ripley Elementary School.
What is the course route? The course will begin and end at Ripley Elementary School. The majority of the course is paved, but there is some distance on grass. You may park at the school, the city pool, or at Ripley High School. Restrooms will be available at the school and the Ripley City Park.
Who can participate? Anyone is welcome to participate! You do NOT have to be a student at Ripley Elementary. You can register at the event or online through Eventbrite. Sunglasses will be provided for preregistered participants.
Can I drop off my student at the event? All students must have a responsible adult present with them. If the student is over 7, that person is not required to register to participate, but must be present to oversee the child. We recommend students under 7 be accompanied by and adult during the race.
How do I register? A student registration form was sent home with each Ripley Elementary School student. Students are encouraged to collect pledges to raise money to win other cool prizes for themselves and their class. Student’s pledges should be sent to the school by April 21st.
If you are not a RES student, you can register at the event or online through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2023-ripley-elementary- school-color-fun-runwalk-tickets-587655051077. Online registration closes on April 27 at 8pm. You may pay using cash or check (made payable to
Ripley Elementary PTO) on race day. Credit or debit cards will not be accepted during race day registration.
What if it rains or something comes up and I can’t make it? Your race registration is non-refundable. The race will go on unless in the event of severe inclement weather. Follow Ripley Elementary School PTO on Facebook and check your email for important race day information or necessary rescheduling information.
What do I wear? Wear white or light colors for best color results! Feel free to dress in crazy socks, tutus, or anything to make it fun and memorable. Color may stain, so avoid wearing nice clothes or shoes.
Consider wearing sunglasses or silly goggles to protect your eyes from the powder.
Is the powder safe? The powder is made with 100% food-grade cornstarch, baking soda, and FD&C-approved food and cosmetic dyes. According to the manufacturer, it is safe, non-toxic and biodegradable.
I can’t be there, can I still donate? Yay! Thanks so much! You can provide a pledge to any RES student participant or email Marie McCauley, Race Chair, for more information on donating at: annmariemccauley@gmail.com
Can I volunteer? Yes! We would love to have you or your organization join us. Please let Marie McCauley, Race Chair, know you’ll be there at
annmariemccauley@gmail.com. Volunteers will report for a brief meeting at 5:20pm.
